Cmmanders could sign George Fant

Able to play either tackle position, it should be mentioned that George Fant is a better run-blocker than a pass-blocker. This is very important for a team that needs to initiate more of an imposing ground game, especially considering that the fumble-prone Antonio Gibson could be on his way out.

Brian Robinson Jr.'s aggressive, downhill running style could take on an even greater role in 2024. Bringing in Fant would play to his strengths and the philosophy of a more physical run game.

Having started seasons at both tackle positions, Fant is a solidified swing tackle with a predilection for the right side. He also has a lot of athleticism, as well as quick feet, having come from a basketball background. He would offer new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury a utility gadget in his tool belt.

Coming off of a one-year deal with the Houston Texans, where he earned him $3 million, Fant could be had for a reasonable price. He would not only offer stability but also the experience and responsibility that come with the task of protecting a rookie signal caller. This is something he accomplished by looking after C.J. Stroud in 2023.

Since 2018, Fant has played 14 or more games in every season but one. He has shown flashes of being a better-than-average offensive tackle in the NFL.

Considering that he has yet to turn 32 years old and began playing football during his last year of college, Fant could still have some good seasons left in the tank.
