Commanders QB Sam Howell should avoid DaRon Bland

Trevon Diggs tearing his ACL would have wrecked the Dallas Cowboys' secondary if it hadn't been for the emergence of second-year pro DaRon Bland. The fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has been feasting on interceptions and is currently thriving with extra responsibilities on his shoulders.

Bland has snatched six interceptions this season. The cornerback has managed to turn four of them into touchdowns, including this pick-six against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11.

His opportunistic streak has helped Bland tie an NFL record, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. The only other players with four pick-sixes in a season are Eric Allen (1993), Jim Kearney (1972) and Ken Houston (1971), per the writer.

Sam Howell is probably still reeling from tossing three interceptions against the New York Giants, so he'd better not test Bland too often to avoid a repeat. When the Washington Commanders do work his side of the field, wide receivers should attack with double moves and burn the young corner if he gets over eager chasing the big play.
