Dan Quinn’s old team comes to town

We all know how big of a division rival the Dallas Cowboys are to the Washington Commanders, but there is a lot more on the line this season. This is thanks to Dan Quinn crossing enemy lines to get a second head coaching opportunity.

Quinn left Dallas as their defensive coordinator to take the vacant head coaching position for the Commanders. It would feel even sweeter for him to not only knock off a division rival in the first of two contests against them this season but also dethrone his former team along the way.

Not only is Quinn looking to get revenge against the Cowboys, but new edge rushers Dorance Armstrong Jr. and Dante Fowler Jr. both played for the organization last season, along with new center Tyler Biadasz. This would be the sweetest of triumphs. It would also be a statement win against a fierce rival.

Kirk Cousins makes his second Commanders return

It has been six seasons since Kirk Cousins played for Washington. Since his departure, the veteran quarterback has played against the Commanders twice, but that was for the Minnesota Vikings. This time, he is leading a new franchise into their Week 17 battle.

In Cousins' two games against the Commanders, he is 2-0 and has compiled 550 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Hopefully, Dan Quinn can come up with some better answers when it comes to preventing the signal-caller from doing damage.

There is a lot of hype around the Atlanta Falcons after signing Cousins to a huge four-year deal. The hype is warranted, as they have been a team that is a quarterback away from being a real threat in the NFC for some time. Don't let the presence of Michael Penix Jr. fool you either, this is the former Michigan State star's team until further notice.

It is up to the Commanders to spoil Cousins' return to Washington and put a dent in a Falcons team that may be pushing for a playoff appearance down the stretch.
