Quan Martin - Commanders DB

After not seeing the field on defense over the first five weeks of the season, rookie defensive back Quan Martin has slowly started to find his way into the lineup. The second-round pick has played 12 total defensive snaps over the Washington Commanders' last two contests, totaling five tackles and one pass deflection while lining up all over the secondary.

Making his mark mainly on special teams so far, Martin should be in line for more snaps on defense going forward. Injuries to starter Darrick Forrest and special teams ace Jeremy Reaves have left the Commanders secondary especially thin on the back end.

Injuries aside, Washington has been susceptible to the big play all season. Therefore, changes must be made to prevent the problems from perpetuating.

With Kamren Curl and Percy Butler as the only options in front of him at the safety spot and fellow rookie cornerback Emmanuel Forbes struggling in his first NFL season, opportunities should be readily available for Martin as the season unfolds. Hopefully, the versatile defender develops into a bonafide playmaker in the secondary with more experience at the professional level.
