Commanders defense bounces back

After giving up at least 33 points in three consecutive contests, to say Jack Del Rio's defensive unit has underwhelmed to this point would be a complete disservice to the term. A defense that many had predicted to be one of the league's best, has been anything but through the first four games of the 2023 season.

Just three teams - the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and New York Giants - have given up more points than Washington through four weeks. Only 10 have allowed more yards.

For a unit that has elite talent on nearly every level of the defense, these troubling trends cannot be allowed to continue on Thursday Night Football against a desperate Bears team looking for its first win of the year.

Rookie cornerback Emmanuel Forbes will try to put last week's nightmare showing firmly behind him, possibly setting the tone for a bounce-back banner performance for the first-year cover man still looking to prove he has what it takes to hang with the league's elite receivers week in and week out.

Bold Prediction: The Commanders' defense has its best overall outing to date, allowing just 17 points while sacking Justin Fields five times and forcing a fumble. Forbes snags an interception and returns it for a touchdown.
