Commanders can rise to the No. 6 seed

With the Green Bay Packers' recent loss to the Detroit Lions, the Washington Commanders are now just one game behind the No. 6 seed in the NFC. This is huge.

The Commanders don't have much hope of winning the Super Bowl, But if there is even a one percent chance, it starts with obtaining this spot.

Beating the Seattle Seahawks and then Detroit or the Philadelphia Eagles is a lot easier than having to beat both Philadelphia and Detroit. Washington also currently holds the tiebreaker over the Packers should it come down to it.

Let's stick with winning just one playoff game for now. That would be enough to set the city on fire after recent decades that included the likes of Dan Snyder, Jim Zorn, Albert Haynesworth, and Donovan McNabb.

Winning the NFC East is pretty much completely out of reach at this point. The best the Commanders can likely do is get the No. 6 seed. That starts this weekend.

While the Commanders are playing a losing team in the New Orleans Saints, who will be without starting quarterback Derek Carr, the Packers are traveling to Seattle.

The Commanders also have some heat on their tail by way of the Los Angeles Rams. A win this weekend will go a very long way toward locking down the No. 7 at a minimum. But if they want to make a splash in the playoffs, it's pretty much a must-win.

It's simple. They can't drop this game.

Not that they can't beat Philadelphia. It's pretty easy to forget that the Commanders led at halftime of the matchup last time around. They also had a chance to kick a field goal on the 30-yard line with five minutes left to take the lead.

However, should Washington get a first-round matchup with a team like Seattle, the Commanders' odds of making noise would greatly improve. The No. 6 seed is very attainable.
