Commanders could sign Gardner Minshew

I have a feeling that the Washington Commanders will want to go with a veteran quarterback with a little more experience under his belt. But this could be a very advantageous situation upon further examination.

Gardner Minshew is another fan and media favorite with the moxie that gives me vibes of the aforementioned Taylor Heinicke. So this could be an excellent fit in Washington.

Minshew has extensive starting experience in the league since being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He just spent the last two seasons with division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, learning the ins and outs of their offense.

While most of his success came in the first two campaigns of his career with the Jaguars, Minshew might be the best option to give Sam Howell true competition in training camp this summer.

Minshew is not the most physically gifted, but is scrappy in nature and would fit well with the mold of this locker room. The Eagles might not be able to retain him due to several of their starters’ expiring deals – not to mention having to pay Jalen Hurts – so Washington might be wise to steal one away from an NFC East foe.

I kind of like the idea of going behind enemy lines to poach one of our most heated rival’s former players. Minshew’s experience with the NFC Conference Champions can only pay dividends for the Commanders.
