4. The Reality Is, this coaching staff was right about linebacker.

For all the offseason hand-wringing about the state of the Commanders’ linebacking corps, the unit (basically Cole Holcomb and Jamin Davis) have played anywhere from good to great football for the majority of the season, and have largely proven their coaching staff right for sticking with them and not overpaying for non-premium positional depth this offseason.

Holcomb leads the team with 61 tackles already this season, including a massive 4th down goal-line stop against Chicago, and Davis, while clearly over-drafted, has been a competent starter this season after looking lost and out of place last year. This defense is not asking linebackers to be massive playmakers, but to be “do your job” players…and Holcomb and Davis have been doing that pretty consistently this season.
