Key numbers from Week 5 as Commanders’ late-game heroics fail
The Good: We have a Dyami Brown sighting
75: Dyami Brown caught his first and second career touchdown against the Titans. The first, a 75-yard reception was the longest score by a Washington receiver since 2019 when Terry McLaurin had a 75-yarder. It was also the second-longest pass of Wentz’s career.
1st: The Titans had scored on every opening drive so far this season, but Washington’s defense held them to a three-and-out for the first time this year.
32%: Cole Holcomb was all over the field, finishing with 15 tackles in the game, which equates to 32% of his season total. To put that in perspective, against the Titans alone, he had the same number of tackles as he did in the Detroit and Jacksonville games combined.
102.9: After struggling for the last few games, Wentz bounced back (for the most part), finishing with a 102.9 passer rating and completing over 65% of his passes while continuing to play behind a porous offensive line.
171: Washington was able to hit on multiple big plays against the Titans despite missing Jahan Dotson. 171 of Wentz’s 359 passing yards (47.6%) came on four plays, the 75-yard touchdown to Brown, the 30-yard touchdown to Brown, a 34-yard reception by McLaurin and a 32-yard reception by Curtis Samuel.
13: The defense continued to get after the quarterback, getting 13 quarterback hits and 5 sacks, the most for the Commanders in a game this season. Montez Sweat had a stand-out game, finishing with 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and 4 quarterback hits.
Brian Robinson’s comeback: This doesn’t need a stat aligned to it. The fact that Brian Robinson was able to come back and play in his first game a mere six weeks after getting shot twice in an attempted robbery speaks to his dedication and determination. He finished with 9 carries for 22 yards, but as he continues to get into game shape, Commanders fans are hoping he grows into a key contributor.
