Commanders injury report for preseason finale

A star from the Week 2 loss to the Chiefs, Sims is currently in concussion protocol and is unlikely to feature against Baltimore.

This is big news, as his absence will give more snaps to Dyami Brown, who’s really underwhelmed this preseason, and guys fighting for a roster spot, including Dax Milne, Alex Erickson, Kyric McGowan, Marken Michel and Matt Cole.

Elsewhere, don’t expect Phidarian Mathis to see the field. The second-round pick hobbled off the field at Tuesday’s practice with an apparent leg injury and proceeded to ride the stationary bike Wednesday. On Thursday, he started on the side field before he headed back to the facility with a trainer.

No reason to trot him out there if he’s not fully healthy.

In other news, Trai Turner returned to the practice field Thursday. The veteran guard had missed the entirety of camp with a quad injury, but participated in individual drills. It’s unlikely we’ll see him Saturday, but his return two weeks before the regular season is a promising sign for his Week 1 outlook.

There haven’t been any updates regarding the tight end position, so it’s anyone’s guess what the rotation will look like, though Logan Thomas has been ruled out and Cole Turner is seemingly still ramping up from his hamstring injury.

That should just about do it, folks. What do you think? Will the Commanders put an end to Baltimore’s preseason win streak?
