3. Danny Johnson

It’s not a stretch to say Johnson was Washington’s worst performer against the Panthers. According to Pro Football Focus, the 26-year-old cornerback played the most snaps of anyone in the Commanders’ secondary. He drew the most targets (five) and allowed four catches for a whopping 83 yards, per PFF.

That’s not an ideal start for Johnson, who’s projected to be Washington’s top backup behind Kendall Fuller, William Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste.

Johnson has had success in Jack Del Rio’s system so we’re not overly concerned with this dud performance. Last year, he played 12 games and 45% of the snaps, tallying a 65.2 coverage grade as the defense’s primary slot defender.

Luckily for Johnson, the Commanders don’t have much cornerback depth, so his roster spot seemingly isn’t in jeopardy. With that said, though, he needs to rebound and provide some resistance this Saturday and that could be easier said than done if Patrick Mahomes gets any playing time for the Chiefs.
