Let’s call this tier: Aaron Rodgers.

The name alone conjures up the notion of a tough game against one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game. As the back-to-back MVP of the league, Rodgers is far and away the best QB Washington will face this season, as he’s the only one who was top six in QBR last year. Compare that to the fact that they played five of those quarterbacks last year (Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes, Herbert, and Allen) and it is clear that the Commanders won’t have nearly as much competition under center for their 2022 opponents.

In case you needed any convincing, here is why Rodgers is in this tier of his own:

Rodgers basic 2021 stats:

  • Comp % – 68.9% (Led NFL)
  • Yards/Attempt – 7.7 (5th Best in NFL)
  • TD’s – 37 (4th most in NFL)
  • INT’s – 4 (Fewest in NFL)
  • QBR – 69.1 (Led NFL)

Not only is Rodgers by far the best quarterback the Commanders will play this year, he very well may be the best quarterback in the NFL. While Rodgers and the Packers did lose Davante Adams this offseason, they still boast a very well-schemed passing game as a whole thanks to former Washington QBs coach and current Packers head coach Matt Lafleur.

The Commanders have actually had some relative success against Rodgers-led Packers teams at home historically, to the tune of an 3-0 regular season record at FedEx Field (before last season, of course, though Washington will have their work cut out for them if they are to start a new streak at home in Week 7.
