1. Terry McLaurin

McLaurin would rank No. 1 on most lists that praise Commanders players, and this one is no different even though it doesn’t have to do with on-field performance. Simply put, whenever McLaurin speaks, everyone listens and there’s a reason for that as he’s incredibly insightful and professional with his words.

In 2020, McLaurin received the Good Guy award from the local media, which is given to the player whose qualities best help the media do its job. This past year, the Pro Football Writers Association named McLaurin a finalist for the 2022 Good Guy Award alongside Cam Heyward, Justin Simmons and CJ Uzomah.

McLaurin gives 100 percent (some would argue more) to everything he does. Whether it be becoming one of the NFL’s best receivers in contested-catch situations or analyzing plays with a fine tooth comb for the media’s sake, McLaurin would make for an excellent color analyst in his post playing career.

The best part about McLaurin? He’d be just as engaging during a two-minute drill as he would during a 20-point blowout.

Honorable mention: Taylor Heinicke

For starters, Heinicke being a quarterback is working in his favor. Additionally, though, the Old Dominion product was made for the big occasion, and that doesn’t just mean leading dramatic fourth-quarter comebacks.

His knowledge of the game makes him a compelling interviewee and he owns one of the most likable and pragmatic personalities in the NFL. We’d love to see Heinicke pursue a career in broadcasting when his playing career runs it course.
