4 must-watch games on the Commanders 2022 schedule
By Jerry Trotta
1. Week 10 at Eagles
While Wentz’s return to Indianapolis will be heavily covered leading up to kickoff, the Commanders QB’s return to Philadelphia, which traded up to draft him No. 2 overall in 2016, will be scrutinized under an entirely different microscope.
The Week 10 matchup, which will be broadcast nationally on Monday Night Football (another intriguing component), marks Wentz’s return to the City of Brotherly Love since Philly shipped him to Indy for two draft picks last offseason.
Wentz enjoyed more highs than lows with the Eagles, culminating in a MVP-caliber campaign in 2017 before he tore his ACL and Nick Foles stepped in and led the team to an improbable Super Bowl win over the Patriots.
Fans in Philadelphia remember Wentz for his maddening turnovers, (overblown) propensity to get injured and checking out mentally in 2020 after the selection of Jalen Hurts and his eventual benching in Week 12.
Despite giving the franchise relatively consistent QB play for five seasons, Wentz made his own mess with the Eagles and he’ll have to face the consequences in Week 10 at what will surely be a hostile and raucous Lincoln Financial Field.
There’s a reason this matchup was scheduled for MNF, folks. From the Wentz narrative to two longtime rivals squaring off in a game that could have big playoff implications, it has all the makings to be a classic.
