2. Lack of Upper-Echelon QBs

The Commanders did not catch a break in the QB department last year.

From opening the year against Justin Herbert, who threw for over 5,000 yards and 38 touchdowns, a back-to-back stretch against Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers, maybe the two best quarterbacks in the NFL, and facing Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and Derek Carr in three out of four games coming out of the bye, it was almost comical how many superstars were on the 2021 schedule.

We didn’t even mention Josh Allen, who threw for 358 yards and four touchdowns against Washington in a 43-21 route in Week 4.

This year, however, is an ENTIRELY different story. The only superstars on tap are Rodgers in Week 7 and Deshaun Watson in Week 17. The next-best non NFC-East group includes Ryan Tannehill, Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garoppolo, and he might have surrendered the job to Trey Lance by Week 12 rolls around.

Also on the docket? Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Davis Mills and potentially Desmond Ridder if he wins the job. Each of them lack experience.

This doesn’t mean the Commanders will win all of their games against inferior quarterbacks, but we’d be disappointed if they didn’t and it’s arguably the biggest positive from the 2022 regular-season schedule. Let. Us. Go.
