Round Six

E.J. Perry, Quarterback, Brown – 6-2, 210

*** The Numbers

  • Hand: 9
  • Arm: 32
  • Wing: 75.5
  • Vertical: 34.5
  • Bench Press: DNP
  • Broad Jump: 10’1”
  • 3 Cone: 6.85
  • Short Shuttle: 4.18
  • 40: 4.65

One of the requirements of an NFL quarterback is simple – have a reasonable degree of intelligence.  It is safe to assume that E.J. Perry satisfies that requirement.  After all, he did attend high-brow Brown University of the Ivy League.  He is also a leader by every stretch of the imagination.  At the NFL Combine during his time on the field for drills and test, Perry stayed after all the players left the field and he personally cleaned up all the trash that was left behind by other players.  WOW!

Perry excelled at Brown for two years after he transferred from Boston College.  He was the offensive MVP of the East-West Shrine Game.

Other Possible Selections

  • Alec Lindstrom, Offensive Guard/Center, Boston College
  • Cordell Volson, Offensive Guard/Tackle, North Dakota State
  • Matt Araiza, Punter, San Diego State
  • Smoke Monday, Free-Strong Safety, Auburn
  • Charleston Rambo, Wide Receiver, Miami
  • Ellis Brooks, Linebacker, Penn State

Round Seven

Otito Ogbonnia, Defensive Tackle, UCLA – 6-4, 325

*** The Numbers

  • Hand: 10
  • Arm: 34.5
  • Wing: 83.5
  • Vertical: Hamstring Injury
  • Bench Press: 29
  • Broad Jump: Hamstring Injury
  • 3 Cone: Hamstring Injury
  • Short Shuttle: Hamstring Injury
  • 40: 5.3

We featured Otito Ogbonnia in our no-trade mock draft and we continue to mock him to the Washington Commanders in this round.  Defensive tackle depth is needed and Ogbonnia fits that description nicely.  He should be able to provide quality playing time in his first season and develop into a solid rotational option on the line.

Other Possible Selections

  • Micah McFadden, Linebacker, Indiana
  • Jean Delance, Offensive Tackle, Florida
  • Chance Campbell, Middle Linebacker, Mississippi (Ole Miss)
  • Markquese Bell, Strong Safety, Florida A&M
  • Abram Smith, Running Back, Baylor
  • Bailey Zappe, Quarterback, Western Kentucky

* Pick Two – Round Seven

Jalen Wydermyer, Tight End, Texas A&M – 6-4, 255

*** The Numbers

  • Hand: 9.75
  • Arm: 33
  • Wing: 81
  • Vertical: 25.5
  • Bench Press: 29
  • Broad Jump: 9’1”
  • 3 Cone: DNP
  • Short Shuttle: DNP
  • 40: 5.01

It may seem strange to mock a player that is very slow and had poor measurables at his team’s pro day.  Very poor measurables.  However, the Washington Commanders seem to be very interested in Wydermyer for some unknown reason.  Team personnel had informal meetings with him at the Combine and Texas A&M’s pro day.  Furthermore, the front office met with Wydermyer on an official visit and hosted him for a private workout.

Apparently, the team sees something in this Aggie and could take him in the seventh round.  Otherwise, look for Jalen Wydermyer to be a possible undrafted free agent signing (UDFA) after the draft.

* Pick Three – Round Seven

Noah Elliss, Defensive Tackle, Idaho – 6-4, 345

*** The Numbers

  • Hand: 10.5
  • Arm: 32.25
  • Wing: 78.5
  • Vertical: Torn Hamstring (Following first 40 sprint)
  • Bench Press: Torn Hamstring
  • Broad Jump: Torn Hamstring
  • 3 Cone: Torn Hamstring
  • Short Shuttle: Torn Hamstring
  • 40: 5.66

We also featured Noah Elliss in the no-trade mock (apologies to him for misspelling his last name in that mock) and we’re talking about him once again as our final player in the mocks from yours truly for the 2022 draft.

Elliss was recruited by many top programs across the nation, but his academics were lacking and he decided to matriculate to Idaho.  Not only did his grades improve, Elliss became to be a solid defender for the Vandals.  Elliss and Ogbonnia will help to mitigate the loss of defensive tackles Tim Settle and Matt Ioannidis.

There is your final 2022 mock draft from yours truly.  Following the actual draft, we will present you with a 2023 mock (short and quick) and see what may happen a year from now.  In another day or two, you will see a full list of the prospects that have formally and informally met with the Washington Commanders in recent months.  That list will be highly detailed and we’ll also list all of the team pro days that Washington personnel attended.  Don’t miss it!

Next. Commanders better not draft QB in second round. dark
