Commanders Mock Draft: The ultimate trade-back in first round
The player I’ve mocked most frequently to the Commanders has to be Wyoming’s Chad Muma. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound inside linebacker can flat-out play football at a high level, with the potential to be Washington’s MIKE in no time.
Where do I begin with Chad Muma? He only has an 8% missed tackle rate, he had the second-most run stops among all linebackers last season, he has true sideline-to-sideline range while nabbing three interceptions last season for the Cowboys.
On tape, his explosion at the point of attack sticks out like a sore thumb, coupled with his high-level football IQ to navigate through blocks and identify the ball carrier. Another thing I saw was how fluent and effective he was in his ability to clog passing lanes in coverage.
In addition, Muma has well over 1200 collegiate snaps under his belt and seems to be a natural football player regardless of where he aligns. I think he makes too much sense for the Commanders, a team that is desperate to find an answer at MIKE in the future.
