Safety. Washington Commanders. Markquese Bell. 189. player. 58.

Standing 6-foot-3, weighing in at 205 pounds, Florida A&M’s Markquese Bell is a prospect that not only can contribute in a low volume role right away for the Commanders, but after a season off, Bell looked like he didn’t miss a beat.

He has a relatively balanced snap-by-alignment count, with 177 snaps or more as a deep safety, box defender and slot defender in 2021. I believe as a thumper, with a missed tackle rate of 11.5% which placed him in the 75th-percentile among all safeties, Bell could excel as a run support SS but I believe he could control robber duties in Cover 1 for Washington as well.

Last season, Markquese Bell was tied for fifth among all safeties last season in terms of run stops and coverage stops, possessing a balanced game throughout both asks of the safety position. He may not have deep-cover-one range, but as a deep safety in cover two and cover four, I believe Bell could be a solid rotational safety for the Commanders right away.
