Washington’s final two picks will be on the defensive side of the football, as they look to sure up some areas that they currently have starters currently possessing.

First, at pick No. 230 overall, Washington adds a safety that can play everywhere for you on the back end.

Louisiana Rajun’ Cajun Safety Percy Butler was one of the better coverage safeties last season per the numbers. With eight coverage stops, four forced incompletions and a passer rating of 56.1 allowed in coverage, Butler could be a nice developmental add for the Commanders late on Day 3.

Their final selection will be another Butler, this time, a linebacker out of Arizona State University. Sun Devil LB Darien Butler had one of his better seasons last year for the Sun Devils, especially in coverage and as a pass rusher.

Butler had nine pressures, three sacks as a pass-rusher for the Sun Devils last year and he was equally as effective in coverage. In coverage, Butler allowed a passer-rating of 43.3 in which placed him in the top 12 among all LB’s last season, while forcing four incompletions to boot.

Butler can play a low-volume of snaps on passing downs for the Commanders, but he’ll make his money in year one providing competent special teams play as well.
