2. Andrew Norwell

Commanders All-Pro guard, Brandon Scherff just signed a deal to join the Jacksonville Jaguars. That leaves a hole to be filled at guard. It’s quite possible Washington decides to stay in-house and promote either Wes Schweitzer or Saahdiq Charles to starting right guard.

Instead, how about we do a little swap?

Andrew Norwell started in every game for Jacksonville last year. Something Scherff hasn’t been able to do since his second year in the league. Norwell also only saw two penalties to his name last season. Adding a veteran who has a first-team All-Pro season on his resume, plays cleanly, and has a limited injury history should only be music to the coaching staff’s ears.

Norwell should also make roughly half of what Scherff will make in Jacksonville and has a good shot at another strong season.

At 30 years old, Norwell should still have a couple more years of solid play left, and can continue to be one of the best interior pass-blockers in the league. He may not be the All-Pro that he once was and can struggle with run-blocking at times, but you know what you’re going to get out of the guy and predictability and reliability has been missing in the Washington for quite a while. The Commanders need to pounce.
