Commanders Draft: 6 prospects with falling stock at 2022 NFL Combine
By Jerry Trotta
Carson Strong, QB, Nevada
Strong entered the Combine lauded for his arm strength and ability to work through progressions.
While it was impossible to gauge his latter skill in the yearly passing drills, the Nevada quarterback had every opportunity to wow scouts with his right arm. Instead, his receivers had to pull up short on a number of vertical routes. Both the arc and accuracy on his passes left a lot to be desired as well.
Coming off the heels of a less-than-stellar showing at the Senior Bowl, Strong’s performance could see him leapfrogged by other QBs.
Kenyon Green, OL, Texas A&M
Green’s inclusion in this article comes with a caveat. His stock is far from plummeting and there’s still a chance he’s one of the first two offensive linemen drafted in April. With that said, Green looked pretty ordinary athletically speaking during a workout that saw a cavalcade of OL prospects show out on that front.
We expected more than 20 reps on the bench press from a 6-foot-4, 323-pound coveted NFL prospect. It didn’t get much better when Green hit the field, as he clocked out a 5.24 seconds in the 40-yard dash and 1.81 seconds in the 10-yard split. His broad jump was anything but explosive, too.
Green’s versatility could end up saving his stock. He played four positions during his collegiate career and has aspirations of playing center at the next level. With so many other prospects outshining him, though, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Texas A&M product fell to the latter stages of the first round.
