Washington 2022 free agent tracker: Who’s coming and going in Washington?
By Jerry Trotta
Who are Washington’s 2022 unrestricted free agents?
DeAndre Carter, KR/WR
Was Carter’s the team’s best pickup last offseason? You bet. On top of finishing second in the NFL in kickoff return yards and third in yards per kickoff return, Carter posted career-highs across the board as a wide receiver.
Ricky Seals-Jones, TE
With Logan Thomas in and out (mostly out) of the lineup due to injury and John Bates struggling for playing time early on, Seals-Jones emerged as a quality backup after he made the roster out coming out of training camp. We’d welcome him back for depth purposes, but that’ll be up to the front office.
Darryl Roberts, CB
Like Thomas, Roberts struggled with injuries in 2021. Signed as a free agent last offseason, the the 31-year-old cornerback appeared in six games for Washington, playing 203 defensive snaps and 45 special teams snaps.
Adam Humphries, WR
Humphries didn’t have the season fans were hoping for, but he had a propensity for coming up with catches in clutch moments. Of his 41 receptions, 23 produced first downs, and his 383 receiving yards ranked third on the team.
Tyler Larsen, C
Forced into action due to injury, Larsen provided stability to Washington’s offensive line after Chase Roullier’s season-ending injury. However, he suffered a season-ending injury of his own in Week 14 against the Cowboys
Cornelius Lucas, OL
Lucas has proven to be a valuable backup swing tackle. Over the last two seasons, he appeared in 29 games (15 starts). In 2021, he played 587 snaps, allowing three sacks, four QB hits and 25 pressures while committing one penalty.
Cam Sims, WR
Fans would be pretty peeved if Washington lets Cam Sims walk in free agency before giving him enough snaps to really prove himself. At just 26 years old and gifted with elite physical attributes, Sims has a bright future in the NFL. Will it be in Washington or somewhere else? We’ll know soon enough.
Danny Johnson, CB
Another depth piece on the roster, Johnson has spent the first four years of his career in Washington. All in all, the former undrafted talent performed well in the slot filling in for the injured Benjamin St-Juste this past season. If it’s possible, we wouldn’t hate seeing him return in a similar role.
Jared Norris, LB
Norris has spent the last two years with Washington, bouncing between the practice squad and active roster during that span. He was limited to just five games in 2021 due to a shoulder injury that placed him on injured reserve.
Torry McTyer, CB
Signed to a reserve/futures contract last January, McTyer was viewed as someone who could challenge the likes of St-Juste, Johnson and Roberts for snaps at cornerback. He even played 42 snaps over the first four games, but that dream was short-lived after he suffered a torn ACL in Week 4 vs the Falcons.
