2. Dolphins fire Brian Flores

The Deshaun Watson trade saga has been an organized mess, but one thing became abundantly clear throughout the process: the Miami Dolphins topped his wishlist of potential destinations.

Wouldn’t you know it, those rumors hit a snag this week when Miami shocked everyone and fired head coach Brian Flores after three seasons.

Why is Flores getting handed the pink slip good news for Washington? Well, rumors have hinted that the driving force behind Watson’s interest in joining the Dolphins was his desire to be coached by Flores.

While the idea of living and playing in Miami appeases Watson, what happens now that Flores is out of the equation? Even if he’s still interested, you have to think Flores’ firing levels the proverbial playing field, no?

Here’s what we’ll leave you with. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has been outspoken against trading for Watson and he might have tipped his hand in that regard by saying that Flores’ successor will get the final say.

If Ross and GM Chris Grier really wanted Watson, would the owner really put the decision in the hands of the next head coach?
