2. Daron Payne

We were eager to see how Daron Payne would respond after he seemingly instigated a sideline scuffle with longtime teammate Jonathan Allen in the middle of Washington’s blowout loss to Dallas in Week 16.

To put it kindly, Payne played like someone who wants out. Allen, meanwhile, finished with a team-high five pressures.

The former first-rounder was a virtual non-factor and routinely got dominated by the Eagles’ interior offensive line. He finished with three tackles and we can’t recall an instance in which he was disruptive in Philly’s backfield.

If you thought Payne’s performance looks bad after he nearly started a fist-fight with Allen, what if we told you it came mere days after he removed all traces of the Washington Football Team from his Instagram account?

We’ve discussed it at nauseam this season, but it’s crazy how quickly things can change in the NFL. A few weeks ago, fans were clamoring for a Payne extension amid the most impactful season of his young career.

Fast forward to the present, however, and it seems like he has no interest in a future with the organization and fans would seemingly hold the door open for him on his way out. Tough to blame them for feeling like that, though.

If you don’t want to be there, then by all means leave.

We still believe this fragmented relationship can be salvaged, but it takes two to tango and Payne looked like he wanted no part of this game.
