3 gifts on the Washington Football Team’s wishlist this Christmas

1. L’s for other teams in playoff hunt
Washington picked a bad time to endure a two-game losing streak, because they’ve gotten absolutely zero help from other teams striving to punch a playoff ticket.
In fact, during that span, the likes of San Francisco (2-1), Minnesota (2-0) New Orleans (2-0) and Philadelphia (2-0) are a combined 8-1. At this point, Washington can’t catch the 49ers. However, the likes of the Vikings, Saints and Eagles, who will visit FedEx Field in Week 17, are all within striking distance.
The good news is that Minnesota has a daunting matchup this weekend vs the Rams, who are riding a three-game win streak and are starting to get healthy following their own COVID-19 outbreak. After that, the Vikings have a date against the consensus MVP favorite, Aaron Rodgers, in Lambeau.
The Saints, meanwhile, have a tricky Monday night fixture against the hottest team in the NFL, the Dolphins, who’ve won six in a row to climb back to .500. From there, New Orleans will play Carolina and Atlanta. They should be favored in those games, so Washington really needs Miami to come through.
The Eagles, unfortunately, get the lowly Giants, but you never know. Joe Judge could have the G-Men ready to play spoiler. After that, Philadelphia has Washington on the road and they’ll finish up with the Cowboys at home.
It’s far from an ideal situation, but there’s a path back to the playoff hunt for Washington. They just need a lot of help.
What do you say, Santa?
