Stud: JD McKissic

As we eluded to earlier, Gibson received the workload of a true No. 1 RB (his 37 touches marked a career-high), but it was JD McKissic’s playmaking in the red zone that proved to be the difference against his former team.

On a night where Washington’s offense struggled to finish off drives, McKissic answered the bell when his number was called. The veteran tailback tallied two touchdowns — one rushing, one receiving — giving him four for the year.

That’s been the underlying theme of McKissic’s season. It might not always be in the form of a touchdown, but his clutch gene is conspicuous and proves he MUST be re-signed once the offseason gets underway.

Let’s hope the injury he sustained at the end of the game isn’t too serious.

Stud: Offensive line and defense

We don’t have enough time to highlight every individual player, so we’re just going to shower praise on behalf of Washington’s offensive line and defense, which are the true identities of this team.

Over the last four weeks, Washington is allowing jut 18 points per game, good for the seventh-fewest of any team in the NFL during that span.

The offensive line, meanwhile, continued to be dominant…despite losing third-string center Wes Schweitzer to an ankle injury. On our first watch, Ereck Flowers looked to have a superb game, but the entire unit deserves its flowers.

Dud: FedEx Field

We wanted to end with a little bit of a joke, though fans who attended the game surely won’t find it all that funny. On Monday, FedEx Field once again found itself trending on Twitter, and no, it had nothing to do with poor attendance.

Rather, the stadium sprung a leak for the second time this season! Fortunately for nearby fans, it was merely a busted sprinkler, not like the sewage water/pipe burst debacle from way back in Week 1.

Get it together!

In all seriousness, we should all enjoy this win. We’re not sure what it is about Ron River and late-season winning streaks, but he sure knows how to rally a team whose season is on the cusp of spiraling out of control.

Not only has Washington steadied the ship, but it would almost be a disappointment if they didn’t make the playoffs at this rate.

On to Las Vegas!
