1. DeAndre Carter

Man, what a story DeAndre Carter is. Anyone else thinking about copping his No. 1 jersey if Washington re-signs him in the offseason?

Carter’s improbable rise as a receiving threat for Washington cannot be understated. To sum up his previous accomplishments as a pass-catcher, let’s just say his return stats show up first on his page on Pro Football Reference.

Prior to 2021, Carter had just 34 catches for 386 yards and zero touchdowns on his resume spanning three seasons. Time will tell if he manages to eclipse his catch and receiving yard totals, but his score on Sunday gave him three touchdown catches on the year, all of which have come in the last three games.

It goes without saying that Carter is Washington’s best return man in a LONG time, but he’s quickly proving to be the playmaker many fans hoped Steven Sims Jr., who was cut in the offseason, would morph into.

On Sunday, Carter’s TD helped Washington establish a 21-14 lead and he converted a 4th and 5 late in the first half that helped set the stage for McLaurin’s 12-yard score with nine seconds left on the game clock.

Carter’s stats won’t stick out on a weekly basis, but he’s comes through with big plays when Washington has needed it most.

He better be back in the Burgundy and Gold next year.
