3. Washington regresses, as Dallas soars

Each team in the NFL compares itself to their divisional foes. In yet another way, Washington has failed. They are coming up short against their arch-nemesis, the Dallas Cowboys, in almost every way.

Heading into the 2021 season, the NFC East was dubbed as a race between the Cowboys and Washington. Most knew the Giants and Eagles would not be very good. So most either picked Dallas or Washington to win the division.

One had a perceived elite offense and weak defense. The other had a perceived weak offense and elite defense. Well, in fact, both cases were false.

Washington’s defense is, at best, if they continue to improve, average. And their offense, as expected, is not very good. Dallas, meanwhile, has an elite offense and a vastly improved defense.

The newly hired Dan Quinn has his players playing fast and carefree. Trevon Diggs could very well be the Defensive Player of the Year in January.

Washington has regressed to the bottom of the NFC; as Dallas has soared to the top of the NFC. Washington could be destined for a top five pick, while Dallas could very well be in the Super Bowl in February.

Washington is a team of talented players, a futile quarterback situation, and a disappointing secondary. Dallas is a complete, unified team, with an elite quarterback and an improved secondary.

In every facet, except maybe one, Dallas is running laps around the Washington Football Team. It puts a huge red bow on an ugly, disappointing season.
