5. Cam Sims

A former pre-season standout who made his name known to fans after numerous pre-season and training camp outings, Cam Sims was impressive last season despite what the end-all numbers will tell you.

Sims isn’t capable of being your WR2, but the former Crimson Tide member produced when he was needed in a limited role. Catching over 32 passes for nearly 500 yards, Sims proved he can be in a wide receiver rotation and has carved out a place for himself in the National Football League.

In addition to his play as a wideout, Sims also stood out as a special teams player, taking part in over 115 special teams snaps while making six tackles. This is significant due to the fact your fifth and sixth wideouts (your backup players) should be able to contribute on the special teams unit despite not playing their primary position.

Sims’s outing in 2020 was a major factor in his long-term status going forward. Ron Rivera and Co. company saw the 25-year-old produce when needed, as he played in two areas of the game and he adds depth on the perimeter.

His ability to play special teams and produce in spots when necessary should push Cam Sims over his competition, and land him a roster spot on the Washington Football Team in 2021.
