The offensive line is deeper.

I’m a big believer in offensive line depth. Injuries to these massive men are all too common to invest too much in your starters while neglecting the second unit.

Last season, Washington relied too much on the David Sharpe’s and Wes Martin’s of the world. This season, with the exception of the center position, there’s a quality backup with starting experience or a high draft pick at every spot.

Assuming the starting five are Leno, Flowers, Roullier, Scherff, and Cosmi, the primary backups at tackle and guard would be: Schweitzer, Lucas and Charles. That should give fans a lot more confidence in the ability of this unit to stay consistent throughout the season, which will be a key for the overall offensive production.
