No. 3 – Cornerback

2021 – William Jackson III, Kendall Fuller, Jimmy Moreland, Benjamin St-Juste

2020 – Kendall Fuller, Ronald Darby, Jimmy Moreland, Fabian Moreau

This one is tricky.  The upgrade from Darby to Jackson III is legitimate.   However, Darby had a nice season for the Burgundy and Gold. He wasn’t a liability.  So the upgrade has more to do with longevity at the position.  I trust Jackson more.  He’s proven more reliable and healthy.  He’s also graded out much higher by those who have the expertise (Not me).

While the pedigree of Jackson over Darby is clear, it’s the unknown of rookie third-round pick Benjamin St-Juste that has me intrigued.  Again, Washington may have found another third-round gem. Way-too-early mini-camp reviews on the player were gleaming.

St-Juste has the size and attributes to play on the outside.  “IF” he finds his way to the field, he could find himself on the outside opposite Jackson, a move that would free up Fuller to move back to his more natural position in the slot — an absolute home-run move for a defense that is looking to become one of the best in the NFL.

And no disrespect intended to the “peoples’ corner”, Jimmy Moreland, who plays with toughness and instincts and provides Washington with quality depth.
