The choice – Virginia Beach

The locations that we have mentioned thus far are very promising, but they simply can’t compete with our choice – Virginia Beach.  The city of Virginia Beach is located in Southeast Virginia and is about a 3.5-hour drive from the Washington, DC region.  Virginia Beach is a great location for training camp and it would be a home away from home for the Washington Football Team for many decades to come.

Let’s talk about casinos.  One could be located in the city center of Pembroke/Columbus Station and two would be built at the oceanfront.  That’s simply the best overall option if we are looking at casinos only.  The various locations that we have mentioned are nice, but Virginia Beach has all of the natural attractions that draw many more visitors to the area.

Let’s talk about the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.  The new training camp could be built just to the east of the Sportsplex and there are hundreds and hundreds of undeveloped acres.  At the Sportsplex you will find baseball fields, softball fields, soccer fields, field hockey fields, football fields, a fieldhouse, and a golf course.  The Sportsplex is the perfect location for a training camp.  As mentioned earlier, it can easily hold four football fields, an indoor practice facility, and a state-of-the-art athletic building with a swimming pool, weight room, medical wing, personnel offices, and a cafeteria – along with plenty of room to spare.

Let’s talk about Virginia Beach itself.  Do you like seafood?  Virginia Beach is a mecca for seafood.  There are many options to please your palate.  When training camp is in town, the nearby Amphitheater is likely to be busy with your favorite music at night.  The oceanfront is the most obvious attraction.  The Virginia Aquarium features large tanks that house most of the marine life that is located in Virginia waters, including sharks and sea turtles.

Need more fun? You can also spend a day at the local Water Park or Motor World where you can race small go-karts or bigger race karts that can blaze along at up to forty miles per hour!  You can go deep sea fishing for a day and take home some delicious flounder, bluefish, spot, croaker, speckled trout, cobia, stripers, or Spanish mackerel.

At the nearby Oceana Naval Air Station, you can go to one of the observation posts and watch F/A-18 Super Hornets take off and land after the famed carrier breaks.  The same goes for the new F-35C Lightning II– the Navy’s newest stealth joint strike fighter.

As you can see, Virginia Beach is a superb location for the Washington Football Team training camp.  A world-class facility that is just waiting to be built.  Many attractions for everyone.  Plenty of great food.  Awesome entertainment.  The beach.

A disclaimer:  Virginia Beach is my hometown and it is easy to be an advocate, but it is truly a great location.  Washington, it is time for you to have a second home and Virginia Beach is the place to host your training camp year after year.
