Round 1

The Choice:  Chase Young, EDGE, Ohio State

Our Choice: No change

The worst kept secret prior to the 2020 draft was knowing that the Washington Football Team would be selecting Chase Young with the second overall pick.  It was a slam dunk/grand slam decision and there is no need to make a change here.  Young came to Ashburn with an immense amount of hype and praise, but he has lived up to those expectations.

As a rookie, Young was named a team captain and captured NFL Rookie of the Year honors for 2020.  The term “no-brainer” applies here and the new coaching staff scored a major win for the franchise.  Two rookies were named to the 2021 Pro Bowl roster and Young was one of them.  He was the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for December.  The Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) placed Young on their all-conference team – the only rookie to receive that honor.

Fans will be happy to know that Young just turned 22 and he could be with the Burgundy and Gold for many years to come.  To be named as a team captain in his rookie season is a testament to Chase Young as both a respected man in the locker room and a football player.  The Washington Football Team made the right choice.
