Round 7: Justin Hilliard, Linebacker, Ohio State

It was surprising to see Justin Hilliard as an option on the simulator in the seventh.  Quite frankly, it was a no-brainer to quickly make the pick.

Many analysts are simply sleeping on this prospect.  Hilliard played behind Baron Browning and Pete Werner at Ohio State and he still produced some amazing moments for the Buckeyes.  As a seventh-rounder, Hilliard is likely to make the final roster of 53 for the Washington Football Team if the front office turns in the card.

Round 7: Robert Rochell, Cornerback, Central Arkansas

Central Arkansas is known as the school that Scottie Pippen attended, but soon it could be the school that produced future football Hall of Fame player, Robert Rochell.

Is that stretching things a bit?  Sure, but Rochell is another small school prospect that brings a solid presence as a nickel corner and could be developed into a good second outside cornerback within two or three years.  He will also bring a special teams acumen to the Washington Football Team.

Other Possible Seventh Round Targets:

  • Tony Poljan, Tight End, Virginia
  • Warren Jackson, Wide Receiver, Colorado St.
  • Alaric Jackson, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Iowa
  • Cade Mays, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Tennessee
  • Cary Angeline, Tight End, North Carolina St.
  • Royce Newman, Offensive Tackle, Mississippi
  • Pro Wells, Tight End, Texas Christian
  • Gerrid Doaks, Running Back, Cincinnati

Final Thoughts

Thank you for following along on this journey over the last few months.  The draft is upon us and all the articles, mock drafts, and prospect rankings were a pleasure to bring to you.  It has been worth every minute – even if we agree to disagree.  This offseason has been unlike any other that we have ever seen and that includes the last-minute trade for Ereck Flowers.

After the draft, we will be grading each draft pick and yours truly will also present to you a self-grading of this final mock.  Just so you know, there is no grading on the curve here.

The Washington Football Team will pick 19th overall on Thursday night (barring a trade) and the next phase of the team rebuild will begin to take shape.  Although this mock did not feature any trades, keep in mind that anything is possible from Thursday to Saturday.

dark. Next. WFT should watch these potential boom prospects

If time allows, there could be a UDFA list posted on Friday.  Yours truly will be busy during the draft, but it is possible that it could be done.  Enjoy the draft and let’s see how each round will unfold for Washington.
