31. Atlanta Falcons (from BAL via KC): Alabama RB Najee Harris

Somebody is going to pony up and take a running back in Round 1. You know why? Because Najee Harris deserves to go in Round 1.

If any other back goes in the first round besides Harris, it’ll be a mistake. But Harris is the one RB I can be on board with in this range. Here, the Falcons make a modest trade up to acquire the back, while the Ravens fall out of Round 1, acquiring more capital in 2022.

Harris is an excellent fit for Arthur Smith’s system. He has the size and contact balance to extend runs, but he also has the short-range explosiveness, superior vision, and elusiveness to make the most of small seams in the box made through Smith’s zone concepts. Additionally, Harris is also an elite receiver at running back, and the best receiving back in the class. His versatility, combined with his high floor, makes him a worthwhile investment early on.
