18. Miami Dolphins: Virginia Tech OT Christian Darrisaw

The Dolphins drafted two offensive tackles in the first 40 picks last year, so on the surface, this looks like an odd selection. However, left tackle Austin Jackson can still stand to develop more after an up-and-down rookie season, and Robert Hunt, who played at right tackle, might be a better fit at guard.

With Tua Tagovailoa’s fate as franchise quarterback hanging in the balance, the Dolphins shouldn’t settle on the offensive line. If a high-level tackle prospect like Darrisaw reaches this point, I find it hard for the Dolphins to pass on him. With Darrisaw, Miami can play him and Jackson at tackle, while moving Hunt, who profiles well on the interior, to guard. It’s a move that adds talent and flexibility in one fell swoop.
