15. New England Patriots: Alabama WR DeVonta Smith

DeVonta Smith recently weighed in at 166 pounds at the NFL Combine. That’s light, even for Smith. Earlier in the offseason, Smith was expected to be around 170 or 175 pounds. Only 0.3% of wide receivers ever to test have weighed in lighter than him.

It’s important to contextualize Smith’s weight with the tape, and personally, I don’t see too many issues. Smith has a lanky, wiry frame that’s sturdy the same way Groot’s is (Yes, Groot the Avenger). He’s not fragile or tentative with his play style, and this leads me to believe he can be the exception at his size.

Nevertheless, it’s entirely possible that Smith’s weight causes him to drop down the draft board. He’s an excellent pick here at No. 15, and if he makes it to the Washington Football Team, he must be considered.
