Washington Football Team Mock Draft: What drafting Kyle Trask looks like
Washington Football Team Round 4 pick
Washington wants to add a vertical threat at Tight End. While this selection isn’t exactly a vertical threat, this is a short to intermediate pass-catcher who is a very good blocker as well.
Boston College isn’t exactly known for their tight end prospects, but Hunter Long is a strong, well-rounded prospect that does his job. The two-year starter has produced exceptionally well as a receiver, while improving as a blocker in addition.
Hunter Long isn’t the best athlete, he won’t run a 4.5 40 yard dash, but he has decent ball skills, can tear up the intermediate passing game, he can move the chains, and he can use his reliable hands to make plays on the field.
He finished top 30 in his class in terms of deep yards (18th), contested catches (3rd), deep catches (16th), average depth of target (27th) and missed tackles forced (21st). Long is a fundamentally sound prospect who is polished both as a receiver and a blocker.
You know what you’re getting from Long on day one, and while he isn’t a transcendent talent, he can produce in whatever role you put him in, in your offense. Washington gets a solid option and consistent catcher for whoever is under center in 2021 and beyond.
