Washington Football Team picks Rounds 1-3

Round 1

Pat Freiermuth, Penn State – 6-foot-5, 260 pounds

It is understood that Pat Freiermuth is not considered to be a first-round tight end prospect, but he could be chosen late on day one if a team really likes his talents.  He would be a good complement to Logan Thomas and is widely regarded as a superb pass-catching tight end.

Freiermuth’s blocking skills are adequate and his ceiling overall is one of a quality starter for at least eight years or more in the NFL.  However, keep in mind that the Washington Football Team will almost certainly not choose a tight end in the first round.

Round 2

Brevin Jordan, Miami – 6-foot-4, 245 pounds

After mocking Pat Freiermuth in the first round, this particular pick makes a lot of sense.  Freiermuth is likely to be chosen earlier in the second round anyway and mocking Brevin Jordan at this juncture is a selection that could actually happen on the second night of the draft.

Jordan is the total package of versatility, talent, dynamic production, and competitiveness.  There is a small chance that Jordan could slip to the third round, but it is increasingly unlikely.

Round 3

Tommy Tremble, Notre Dame – 6-foot-4, 250 pounds

Tommy Tremble is one bad dude and that is a good thing.  Not only does he play with a mean, nasty attitude, but Tremble also takes something of a sadistic pleasure in dominating who he is blocking.   He is a good receiver, but he will need to improve at the next level.  If the Washington Football Team adds Tremble in this round, they will not regret it.

Hunter Long, Boston College – 6-foot-5, 255 pounds

Hunter Long has become something of a forgotten entity this offseason, but he is still a talented tight end.  He led the nation in receptions last season and he should be on Washington’s shortlist in this round.

Long is a willing blocker and has room to improve on his route running skills.  It’s possible that he could slip to the fourth round, but this Eagle should be the choice if he is on Washington’s radar in round three.
