Five biggest needs Washington Football Team has to fill during 2021 NFL Draft
1. Linebacker
Linebacker is the one spot that Washington needs help at above all else. They have Jon Bostic and Cole Holcomb at the position, but they could stand to upgrade Bostic and need someone to take over the WILL linebacker spot after Kevin Pierre-Louis’ departure.
If Washington can add a quality linebacker or two to the unit in the draft, they will have a chance to have the best defense in the league. They already have an elite defensive line. Their secondary is just a free safety away from being a top-notch unit as well.
They just need some true three-down linebackers to glue things together. Most notably, they need guys that can cover, as that was Pierre-Louis’ forte. Holcomb should continue to improve in that area, especially thanks to his athletic ability, but outside of him, the team doesn’t have a lot of players that can cover.
Luckily, there should be players available that fill that need for Washington. They could consider a guy like Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah with the No. 19 overall pick. Zaven Collins from Tulsa is also a bigger-bodied option. Even Kentucky’s Jamin Davis is getting some buzz as a potential first-round option.
On Day 2, players like Nick Bolton, Baron Browning, Dylan Moses, Jabril Cox, and Chazz Surratt will be available for Washington to select. All would add upside to the team’s unit.

If Washington drafts a linebacker or two and lets Jack Del Rio and Ron Rivera mold them, the sky will be the limit for the defense. That’s what makes this need the most important one for Washington to fill as the 2021 NFL Draft draws nearer.
