Round 2 – Richie Grant, Free Safety, Central Florida – 6-0, 195

The Washington Football Team desperately needs a reliable and talented free safety.  That’s about as succinct as we can be about a position that has been neglected for far too long.

Richie Grant is one of the better prospects in the draft and he would go a long way in solving the deep safety woes that Washington seems to endure year after year.  After mocking an American Athletic Conference athlete in the first round, we are now mocking one in the second round.

Richie Grant is a jack-of-all-trades in the defensive backfield.  He can play in the box as a strong safety.  In a pinch, Grant can play on the outside at cornerback.  He can log some quality time as a slot corner.  However, he is a master of his domain at free safety.  Grant is a ball-hawk, but can be prone to poor angles and missed tackles on occasion.  With experience, he can improve on the few weaknesses and should be able to thrive at the next level.
