Offseason Thoughts

The Washington Football Team has a current (estimated) salary cap space that is listed at about $20.9M, but that is before the Curtis Samuel contract is added to the mix.  It is likely in the $17M range for now.

Josh Harvey-Clemons will return from the 2020 COVID opt-out and given the current attrition rate at linebacker, he could stick around for at least another season.

Will OG Brandon Scherff sign a new contract prior to the 2021 regular season?  The Washington Football Team would certainly like to make that happen.

In January, we listed several players who need to prove this offseason that they belong on the roster of 53 this fall.  They include:  FS/ST Troy Apke, WR/PR Steven Sims, TE Thad Moss, RB Bryce Love, and OT Geron Christian.

With the addition of cornerback William Jackson recently, it is a safe bet to assume that the Washington Football Team is not likely to add a cornerback in the first five rounds of the NFL draft.

Some analysts, pundits, and fans are saying that one free agent signing is needed to replace the depth of Ryan Kerrigan – if he doesn’t return.  Remember this name – James Smith-Williams.

Washington is reported to have an interest in trading for Patriots wide receiver, N’Keal Harry.  The team here at Riggo’s Rag will continue to monitor any developments.

The final free agency blueprint update (part three) comes later this summer – perhaps before or after training camp.  We’ll also list the new draft picks with that update.
