Washington Football Team: Five free agents to consider signing on Day 2
By Ian Cummings
No. 1 – Lions WR Kenny Golladay
There’s been a freeze surrounding Kenny Golladay, as no team wants to be the one that sets the market and ponies up with the big money. There are legitimate reservations surrounding the pursuit of Golladay, but for a blue-chip wide receiver, the Washington Football Team should at the very least do their due diligence.
Golladay is a decent schematic fit for Washington, but more than that, he’d provide the dynamic, big-play element that was so lacking for the Washington Football Team in 2020. He’d also be an excellent fit for Ryan Fitzpatrick’s gunslinger-esque style, if Fitzpatrick is the one who remains the starter throughout the year.
Standing at 6-foot-4, 214 pounds, Golladay has imposing size, but he also has 4.51 speed and a stellar 35-inch vertical. Golladay’s calling card is his contested catch ability; he makes 50-50 situations more like 80-20. But Golladay also has good open-field speed and zone awareness, and overall, he’s a relatively complete receiver who’d instantly give Terry McLaurin some pressure relief.
