14. CB/S Desmond King

King counts as half a Charger and half a Titan since he split times with the team last year. That means five total players from both teams made this list.

That point aside, King would be an intriguing fit in Washington. He can play anywhere in the secondary, but his best position is probably at the free safety spot. So, he could fill in there as a starter or play in the slot or outside at corner if Ronald Darby doesn’t return.

Beyond his ability as a defensive back, however, King is an elite special teams player. He made the Pro Bowl in 2018 because of his ability in that area. He is particularly good as a punt returner, and has a career average of 8.9 yards per return with two touchdowns.

That probably sounds pretty good to Washington fans who grew weary of watching Steven Sims drop back and attempt to field punts. So, King could be given the primary return job there while starting on defense as well. It would be an injury risk, but it could certainly upgrade the team in many different areas.

Rivera loves versatility. Jack Del Rio probably will like King’s skill set as a defensive back and should at least see him as a solid back-end option. King may not get as much attention as the top options on the market, but don’t sleep on him as a fit in Washington.

If he can improve his ball skills a bit after a couple of down years in that area (no interceptions, four pass defenses total) he could fit well as a do-it-all role player for this team.
