Washington Football Team Free Agency Evaluation – Offensive Line
Middle Tier
Trent Williams, 49ers
Trent Williams was one of the best left tackles during the last decade. Several reports suggest that he is open to the idea of returning to the Washington Football Team, but that is probably not a realistic option. If Williams is willing to take a reduction in salary, Washington will probably continue to be uninterested. He has several good years left in him, but this door is at least 95% closed. Queue the “So you’re telling me there is still a chance” gif – we may need it.
Matt Feiler, Steelers
When Matt Feiler went down with an injury in December, it became painfully obvious that the Steelers missed him. He did return for the playoffs, but Pittsburgh’s late-season collapse was unavoidable by then. Feiler will command a modest contract and he could be very affordable. The former small-school prospect is a solid right tackle and can play guard if there is a need. Feiler is likely to be an effective lineman for at least five more years.
Jon Feliciano, Bills
Jon Feliciano is an underrated right guard and it is looking as if he will return to the Bills with a new contract. Of course, any speculation that centers on Feliciano will be moot if and when the Washington Football Team re-signs Scherff. The former Miami Hurricane has steadily improved since entering the league in 2015. If he does end up in a Burgundy and Gold uniform, his contract could be a bit pricey.
Prediction: Washington is unlikely to sign any of these three mid-tier prospects, but the window for a Trent Williams return is very small.
