Upper Tier

Taylor Moton, Panthers

Taylor Moton is a right tackle and is one of the best in the game today.  There are some vague rumors that place him with the Washington Football Team, but the organization seems set at right tackle.  Moton would be an obvious upgrade and the Carolina connection is difficult to ignore.  However, the cost to sign him will probably be too much for the front office to digest.

Brandon Scherff, Washington

The longer the team waits to re-sign Brandon Scherff, the more difficult it will become to ink him to a long-term deal.  It’s unlikely that the Washington Football Team will give him another franchise tag, and the front office should get a deal before free agency begins. Scherff wants to return and both sides should be able to work out a deal.

Joe Thuney, Patriots

Could Joe Thuney be “Plan B” if Washington doesn’t re-sign Scherff?  Thuney is just as talented as Scherff, so there would be no drop-off in talent.  With the Patriots having some inflated salary cap issues, it is possible that Thuney will hit the open market.  If that happens, a bidding war could ensue. That is why Washington would prefer to re-sign Scherff.

Prediction:  Washington re-signs Brandon Scherff to a four-year, $62M contract, $40.5M guaranteed, and a $27M signing bonus.
