Ty Montgomery

I get it, this might be scrapping close to the bottom of the barrel, but this is a value-based look at free agency.

Ty Montgomery was originally drafted by the Packers as a wide receiver before switching full-time to running back. Sound familiar? It’s similar to the transition that Antonio Gibson made.

Montgomery has bounced around the league but is another player that could provide value as both a wide receiver and running back at what should be a very friendly contract.

Washington should at least do their due diligence on him as he has produced when given larger responsibilities. He averaged 6.7 yards per touch in 2016 with the Packers and averaged 5.8 yards per touch as recent as last year with the Saints. He also provides some value as a kick returner.

Free agency can be a crapshoot and not every year can a team discover hidden gems who far outperform their cost. Here’s hoping Washington is able to continue the trend and potentially add another running back weapon to a talented backfield.
