Mike Davis, Panthers

Many will look at this selection being based on Mike Davis having played for Coach Rivera’s former team, but the player and coach were only together for about a month before Rivera was fired. This has more to do with how Davis stepped up admirably while filling in for the injured Christian McCaffrey last season.

Davis is another veteran who doesn’t have a lot of wear and tear, with only 412 career carries in his six-year career. He has, however, produced when given the opportunity.

In 2018, with the Seahawks, Davis 4.6 yards a carry and 6.3 yards per reception while primarily playing as a back-up. Last season, he got a chance to start 12 games, the most in his career, and finished with 1,015 total yards and eight touchdowns. Despite only averaging 3.9 yards per carry, he did force 65 missed tackles (43 as a rusher and 22 as a receiver), per Pro Football Focus.

Despite having an average annual value of $3 million, Davis produced the same amount of value as a player making $8.6 million, per Over the Cap.

His ability to be used in both the passing and receiving game makes him another valuable utility back that Washington could target if the price was right.
