Upper Tier

Leonard Williams, Giants

Leonard Williams is one of the best defensive linemen in the game today.  He would be a great addition to the Washington Football Team’s defensive front, but is there room at the inn for his services?

Solomon Thomas, 49ers

Remember when the 2017 draft featured Jon Allen and Solomon Thomas as the top two defensive linemen?  Allen’s lofty draft status dropped due to false medical concerns, but Thomas was chosen early.  Allen’s career has been better thus far and Thomas has struggled, but the former Stanford standout is still a very good player.  Could the Washington Football Team consider adding Thomas to this talented unit?

Sheldon Rankins, Saints

Sheldon Rankins was probably dealing with the lingering effects of an achilles injury from 2019, but he still performed well enough in 2020.  Normally, Rankins would not be listed here due to his immense talent and the likelihood of being retained by the Saints.  However, the Saints have a horrible salary cap situation for 2021 and Washington could take advantage of the opportunity.

Prediction:  Washington could add Thomas for a one-year modest contract, but it is unknown if the 49ers want to retain him.
