Washington Football Team 7-round mock, trading up to the seventh pick
By Ian Cummings
Round 7, Pick 213 – Florida State WR Tamorrion Terry
You might have expected a tight end here. That was initially my pick, but I soon diverted course and selected the third wide receiver of the draft: Florida State’s Tamorrion Terry.
Terry may be a wide receiver, but he brings some elements common in tight ends. He’s big and long, standing at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, and he has absurd length for a wide receiver. His length allows him to corral off-target throws, and it also enables him to exert some physicality after the catch.
Beyond his size, Terry is an elite athlete. He has legitimate dynamic ability as a runner after the catch, with the explosiveness, balance, and elusiveness to create yards. In open space, he’s a long-strider with the long speed to take passes to the house.
If you’re wondering why Terry is a seventh-round pick, it comes as no surprise. Before the 2020 season, Terry was coming off a 2019 redshirt sophomore campaign that saw him catch 60 passes for 1,188 yards and nine touchdowns. He was a borderline first-round talent in some camps. But his 2020 season was disastrous for his stock.
In 2020, Terry struggled to produce, clashed with coaches, and eventually parted with the Florida State football program with little explanation. Terry will have to answer for those off-field red flags, but if he can take to NFL coaching and adequately reset his career, he has the physical talent to be the steal of the draft, and an exciting weapon in Turner’s offense.
